Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè (/ˈcena/ /ˈbɘhë/ [clear] [hill; mound]) is a temperate Town located in the Lêtdêsara Zone of the Union of Engineers.
The name Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè was founded by Parciel Tsmthe, who was culturaly Iron Elven.
Climate
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a yearly average temperature of 23°C (73°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 29°C (84°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 18°C (64°F). Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè receives an average of 277 cm/y (109 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 868 m (2847 ft) above sea level.
Overview
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè was founded durring the late 14th century in spring of the year 1280, by Parciel Tsmthe. The establishment of Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè suffered from several major issues, resulting in the need to develop many solutions to basic problems. Problems such as a lack of fresh water, logistical support, poor quality tools, and the odd monster or two. Howeaver, these were overcome in time.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè is is constructed arround a series of spacious paverstone mainstreets which form concentric circles, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to each other at varrious points. The town has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the town is well defended against anything short of an army. The town's cost-cutting-focused defences have recently undergone extensive repairs and renovations, such that the repairwork is imeadiently apparent and can be spotted due to the diffring ages of materials. One can't help but wonder what brought the need for those repairs to the town.
Before you’ve even set foot into the heart of Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè, you can smell it. The incense. It hangs about the town like a cloud. Monks, priests, and clerics are everywhere, all dedicated to the same divine, all performing the same rituals to bless and anoint buildings, streets, people, animals, you name it they are or have blessed it. The same holy symbol is everywhere too. Its on buildings, on people, and even branded into livestock. This certainly loves its divine. Asside form the revrent worship, you can see the citizens are preparing for something, and that something isn’t good. Weapons are worn openly. Defensive structures have been recently constructed to guard less used areas of the town. Merchants seem very eager to sell their wares at discount prices. Something is coming.
Civic Infrastructure
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's parks.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's grid is powered by hydrogalvanic generators.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's natural decorations nor waterways.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè is home to a University which provides higher education in a variety of fields, and also serves as a research institute for those same fields.
Cultural Notes
There’s more than one leader in Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè, but at least some of them are at each other’s throats. It might be a conflict between formal leadership and informal authorities, or it could be a struggle among civil officials. Their interests might diverge sharply, or it could be a personal grudge that’s boiled over. Outside threats and internal problems are likely being ignored until the power struggle is resolved.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is admittedly strange and non-linear style rooted in defiance of symmetrical shapes. It championed the creation of buildings with a unique visual appearance. the structural norms of classic buildings and deforms or moves away from elementary architectural principles. By including non-linear designs processed into its buildings and favoring fragmentation, this style expressed a form of controlled chaos. Its buildings appear out-of-the-ordinary, draw the eye in immediately and sometimes create a feeling of strangeness. These distorted shapes and structure are not reserved to the building’s outer facade, they destabilize interior elements too, favoring minimalism and play on people’s perceptions by injecting a futuristic touch.
In Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè every night at precisely midnight every structure in town is engulfed by sailors fire until the end of the witching hour.
Qîvl-bêhë Dêtîkè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves long periods of drunkenness to channel Conjuration energies of tier 2 via speaking in tongues.
